Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 June 2026
Scam First Aid ("we", "us") operates scamfirstaid.org, a free educational resource for people affected by cryptocurrency scams. This policy explains what we do — and mostly don't — collect.
1. Our principle: minimal data
The step-by-step triage wizard runs entirely in your browser. We do not receive, store, or transmit your answers, wallet addresses, transaction details, or any case information. Nothing you type into it leaves your device.
2. Information we collect
- •Newsletter: if you subscribe, we collect your email address. Submissions are processed and stored by our host, Netlify (Netlify Forms). We use it only to send occasional scam-prevention emails, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- •Server logs: our host automatically logs standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) to operate and secure the site.
- •Cookies & advertising: we use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and personalize ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
3. Advertising & cookies
- •Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
- •You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ad Settings, and learn more at Google's advertising policies.
- •Where required (EEA, UK, Switzerland), we use a consent prompt for advertising cookies — personalized ads are shown only with your consent.
4. Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate/partner links. If you click and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects our guidance, and the linked site's own privacy policy governs your activity there.
5. Third parties we rely on
Netlify (hosting & form processing), Google AdSense (advertising), and Google Fonts (web fonts; may log your IP to serve fonts). Each has its own privacy policy.
6. Your rights
If you're in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold (in practice, your newsletter email), and withdraw consent at any time. Contact us using the details below.
7. Retention, children & changes
We keep newsletter emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change.
