How to report a crypto scam in India
Speed is critical. Reporting financial fraud within the first couple of hours gives the best chance of freezing the money before it's moved on.
Report to these authorities
- •Call 1930 — the national cybercrime financial-fraud helpline (24/7). Do this first, as fast as possible.
- •cybercrime.gov.in — the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal; file under "Report Financial Fraud."
- •Your local police / nearest cyber cell.
Do this in every case
- •Stop all contact and send no more money — including "fees" or "taxes" to withdraw.
- •Tell your bank immediately to flag/freeze the transaction.
- •Preserve evidence: screenshots, wallet addresses, transaction hashes/UTRs.
- •Report the scam wallet address on Chainabuse.
⚠️ Beware "recovery" services. Anyone who contacts you promising to get your money back for an upfront fee is almost always a second scam. See the red flags →
